Angelo Ungarelli works as Senior Architect and Computational Designer at Mario Cucinella Architects.
He is specialized in advanced 3D modelling and Parametric design, with a solid experience at different levels and scales, supported by a multidisciplinary attitude.
Born in Bologna, he earned his Master’s degree with honors at the University of Ferrara in 2008 with the thesis “Urban Chain - Strategies for the reclamation of the San Lorenzo neighbourhood in Rome”. During his studies he participated to several workshops and seminars across Europe and Asia, addressing different architectural aspects. In 2007 he spent a year in Denmark at the Aarhus School of Architecture where he started to develop his interest in the computational field.
In 2010, shortly after graduation, he moved to Sydney, where he worked with several international firms. There he got the chance to work on a wide range of projects especially across Australia, China and Middle East, ranging from large infrastructure projects to interior design. Here he enriched his skills in advanced 3D modelling and different parametric software.
During this period, he also collaborated with the University of Sydney tutoring at the Digital Architecture Master Studio, where he further pushed his idea of innovation and experimentation.
In 2016 Angelo joined the MCA team in Bologna, where he has been working on multiple projects and several international competitions as an architect with a focus on Digital / Parametric design with particular interest in the implications of their application to everyday life.
