the competition for the design of the Center for Biotechnology and Biomedical Research for the Foundation Ri.MED

MC A took part in the competition for the design of the Center for Biotechnology and Biomedical Research for the Foundation Ri.MED.

The main objective of the intervention is to create a complex that meets the principles of environmental sustainability. Recognizing the value of the area’s landscape and its morphology led to informed choices relating to the formal context and the surrounding buildings.

The buildings, partly sunken into the ground, gradually emerge like rocky outcrops rising toward the sea. Architecture and technology are integrated harmoniously in the buildings themselves, rendering them recognizable as places advanced research and high quality.

L’obiettivo principale di tale intervento è quello di realizzare un complesso che risponda ai principi di sostenibilità ambientale. La valenza paesaggistica e la morfologia dell’area hanno spinto ad effettuare scelte formali che rispettassero il contesto e gli edifici circostanti.

Gli edifici, in parte scavati nel terreno, affiorano gradualmente dal suolo come dei veri e propri speroni di roccia che si innalzano in direzione del mare. Architettura e tecnologia si integrano armoniosamente nel contesto e gli edifici diventano essi stessi riconoscibili come luoghi di ricerca avanzata e di qualità.
